Rifle Marksmanship 101
We build riflemen the old fashioned way

Looking around the net these days, you find several precision rifle courses available, most taught by great fellow Americans. Unfortunately, most don't focus on the core marksmanship fundamentals. To add to the issue, a bulk of the ranges these courses are taught at do not have target systems that can give each student accurate feedback with each shot, show & measure group sizes, etc., a critical need for folks tracking improvement from drill to drill or day today.

The rifle system (rifle, scope, mounts, ammo) that you bring to this course must be rugged and meet the accuracy requirements. We do not have time to fix your gear issues that you should have worked out before showing up to class. While our course is relaxed, it's done at a fast pace with a lot of moving around. If you have any doubts about your gear or need to double-check- please reach out ahead of time.
Lodging

Available only if you are taking a course at ACADEMI. Not open to the general public. The Black Bear Inn offers several amenities to make you feel more at home, including use of a full laundry facility and an on-site weight room. In addition, all guests have access to their fully equipped ACADEMI fitness center. During your downtime, they offer a recreation area with a pool table, card table, a large-screen television, movie rentals, computers and wireless Internet. For outdoor leisure time, their courtyard contains picnic tables and grills as well as vending machines. In addition, they provide all guests access to a communal kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave oven.

The housekeeping staff refreshes each room Monday - Friday, leaving clean towels upon request. All of their rooms feature a telephone, satellite television with DVD player and an armoire for clothing. Please note all long-distance calls require a calling card. The front desk at the Black Bear Inn offers a variety of personal care products to make your stay more comfortable.

Private Rooms:
Our 15 private rooms are single-occupancy and have a comfortable bed with a private bathroom including a full-size standing shower, and work area.

Semi-private rooms:
The semi-private rooms sleep two-to-three people per room and include a shared bathroom.

Bunk rooms:
Their bunk rooms allow for two-to-six people per room with the use of communal bathrooms.

Available only if you are taking a course at ACADEMI. Not open to the general public. Reservations must be cancelled by 1800 (6 p.m.) local time on the day of your arrival. If reservations are not cancelled by this time, guests will be charged the equivalent of a one night stay – including room charge and tax. Guest’s credit card will be charged, or, in the case of pre-payment, the Black Bear Inn will retain all or part of the prepayment.

 Cancellation Policy
  • Courses cancelled more than 120 days out will receive 100% refund
  • Courses cancelled more than 60-119 days out will receive 50% refund
  • Courses cancelled more than 30-59 days out will receive 25% refund
  • Courses cancelled inside of 30 days out will receive NO refund
If you need to cancel inside of the 120 day window, we will apply your course fee's to your next SRT course.  SRT maintains the right to modify or revise these policies at any time.
Russel Miller USA (Ret):
Russell Miller is a retired Soldier with 26 years of service in both the Infantry and Special Operations.  In addition to multiple overseas tours, Russell has served in multiple weaponry/marksmanship training units to include running the Special Forces Weapons Sergeant Course, Deputy Commander of a National Guard Marksmanship Training Unit and an assistant pistol coach of the West Point Pistol Team.  Russell has competed in a wide variety of marksmanship/weaponry competitions since 1986 to include Summer Biathlon (Run & Shoot), US Army and National Guard Combat Matches, NRA/CMP High Power Rifle Matches, NRA Long Range Rifle Matches, NRA Action Pistol, USPSA and IDPA Pistol Matches.  Russell earned the US Army Distinguished Rifle and Pistol Badges and the NRA Action Pistol Badge (Production Division) and is a High Master in NRA Long Range Rifle Competition.    

Steve Reichert USMC (Ret):
Steve is (bio page) is the founder of T1G, the premiere dedicated Special Operations training facility in the US. Since its inception in 2006, T1G has provided over 15,000 of the nation's most elite units with customized training and leased facilities. Steve is also responsible for staffing and instructor training for new Rogers Ranges across the US. The Rogers course is one of the most challenging handgun programs out there.
Steve's teaching methods have been proven over decades. Development and implementation of many diverse types of curriculum to our nations finest are one of his specialties.
